## Description

Portslade History Trail is a community heritage project created by a volunteer group of Portslade residents. It introduces visitors to the area’s history through accessible, self-guided walks and digital resources, with a focus on Portslade Old Village and its conservation area. The Old Village trail covers around one mile and features 15 locations, including historic buildings and sites that reflect more than a thousand years of local history. Highlights include Portslade’s oldest surviving building, dating to 1080, an approximately 800-year-old church, a 400-year-old pub and a former brewery. The project also offers an Easthill Park history trail, a tour of the historic Emmaus site, a virtual tour of Portslade’s Norman manor house, and history podcasts and video documentaries. Its Portslade Timeline traces the area’s development from 1066, while educational resources support children studying Key Stages 2 and 3. Designed as an engaging introduction rather than an academic account, the project shares local heritage through tours and resources for a broad audience.
