## Description

The Portsmouth Halloween Parade is a community-led, 501(c)(3) nonprofit that brings people together in downtown Portsmouth, New Hampshire, for an annual celebration of creativity, inclusion, and free expression. Held every October 31 at 7 p.m., the parade invites everyone to dress up and join the procession, with no sign-up required. Participants gather at Pierce Island near Prescott Park and make their way through downtown, while thousands of spectators enjoy the music, costumes, and lively atmosphere.

The parade is not city-sponsored; community fundraising and support help cover essential costs such as insurance, permits, and a police escort. The organization also hosts fundraising events throughout the season and welcomes donations, raffle prizes, and volunteers. Supporters can show their parade pride with T-shirts and hoodies, locally printed by Black Sheep Printing. Its website provides practical information for participants, including parade rules, route maps, accessibility details, and road-closure updates. Visitors can also sign up for occasional email updates about the parade, events, and volunteer opportunities.
