## Description

Festausschuss Porzer Karneval e.V. (FAS) is an organization dedicated to celebrating and sustaining the carnival traditions of Porz, a district of Cologne. Describing its approach as “family-oriented,” the FAS brings local carnival societies and clubs together and helps coordinate the community’s seasonal activities. A central event is the Porzer Rosensonntagszug, the Rose Sunday parade; the organization publishes parade schedules and arrangements, holds planning meetings, and manages participation and related requirements for groups and societies.

The FAS also promotes the cultural and social life of carnival through annual session mottos, dance groups, publications, press coverage, photo galleries, and historical resources. Its website shares information about Porz’s ceremonial triumvirates, including the children’s Dreigestirn, and the traditions and people who have shaped local celebrations. Beyond festivities, the organization highlights community-minded giving: the Porzer Dreigestirn supports social services and nonprofit institutions through donations. The FAS is led by an elected board and works with member societies, volunteers, and local partners to preserve regional customs, encourage participation across generations, and make carnival a welcoming expression of shared identity and responsibility.
