## Description

Positive Choices is an online portal that aims to provide school communities with accurate and up-to-date drug education resources and prevention programs. This evidence-based resource recognizes the importance of intervening early to prevent drug use uptake and associated harms, especially during the teenage years when substance use often begins. It is crucial for school staff and parents to be equipped with accurate information and evidence-based strategies to protect young people and empower them to make positive choices. Developed in collaboration by researchers from renowned institutions such as The Matilda Centre for Research in Mental Health and Substance Use and The National Drug and Alcohol Research Centre, Positive Choices offers a comprehensive range of interactive and culturally diverse resources. It includes resources for teachers, parents, students, and culturally and linguistically diverse communities. By addressing a wide range of aspects related to drug and alcohol usage, this online portal serves as an accessible and valuable resource for anyone seeking information or support. Positive Choices has been recognized for its excellence and impact, receiving prestigious awards for bridging the gap between research knowledge and practical implementation. The development of the portal was greatly influenced by the input and feedback of teachers, parents, and students from across Australia, demonstrating the collaborative nature of this initiative. Positive Choices also acknowledges and pays respect to the Traditional Owners of the lands on which they work and conduct their research, as well as the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in guiding the development of their resources. Expert input from organizations such as the Australian Indigenous Alcohol and Other Drugs Knowledge Centre and the Black Dog Institute further enhances the credibility and cultural sensitivity of the resources provided. Overall, Positive Choices is a trusted and invaluable resource that promotes informed decision-making, empowers communities, and fosters a healthier and safer environment for young people.
