Powercoders is a brand that aims to make a positive impact by helping displaced people regain their independence and addressing the shortage of talent in the IT industry. Founded in 2016 by Christian and Bettina Hirsig, Powercoders offers programs designed to empower individuals through coding skills. Starting in Bern in early 2017, Powercoders quickly gained momentum, with a large number of applicants, dedicated volunteers as job coaches and IT trainers, and enthusiastic IT companies offering internships.

The success of the program led to the expansion of Powercoders into Zurich, Lausanne, and Basel. To better serve the communities in both the Romandie and German-speaking parts of Switzerland, Powercoders later shifted its model to have permanent programs in Zurich and Lausanne. During the pandemic, the team made the decision to integrate the two locations, providing a blended remote and on-site learning experience for participants throughout Switzerland.

Powercoders has achieved significant milestones since its inception, including the establishment of partnerships with companies and successful outcomes for participants. Through their dedication and innovative approach, Powercoders continues to create opportunities and change lives in the IT industry
