The Soil Deal Mission and the PREPSOIL project are dedicated to promoting and ensuring the long-term health of European soils. The mission recognizes that the lack of knowledge and awareness surrounding soil health is a significant factor contributing to soil degradation and the loss of ecosystem services. By increasing awareness and knowledge among stakeholders such as land managers, industries, consumers, and society as a whole, the mission aims to foster a community of soil stewards and empower authorities to implement effective soil practices. The PREPSOIL project plays a crucial role in facilitating the deployment of the mission across European regions. Through the creation of tools, spaces for interaction, and co-learning, as well as harmonized monitoring mechanisms, PREPSOIL supports the assessment of regional soil needs and the implementation of actions in living labs and lighthouses. This comprehensive approach will be implemented during the first three years of the mission, from 2022 to 2025. With 100 living labs and lighthouses at the forefront, the mission aims to lead the transition towards healthy soils throughout Europe.
