PROAmazonía is a comprehensive program aimed at reducing deforestation in Ecuador's Amazon region. The program works in collaboration with key economic sectors of the country to set priorities and policies that promote sustainable management of natural resources, contributing to poverty eradication and sustainable human development. PROAmazonía supports the transition to sustainable production systems, aiming to transform traditional production systems into sustainable agroproductive systems, free from deforestation. It also focuses on sustainable forest management, conservation, and restoration, recognizing forests as a natural solution to climate change. Additionally, PROAmazonía provides support for the implementation of REDD+ (Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation) in Ecuador, facilitating reporting to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. The program promotes coordinated efforts among various institutions and supports the establishment of financial mechanisms to channel REDD+ resources and engage the private sector. With its diverse interventions and focus on involvement and capacity building, PROAmazonía is dedicated to achieving sustainable and inclusive development in the Amazon region of Ecuador.
