## Description

INDACO is an epidemiological research project focused on the health of people living in the Valle del Sacco Site of National Interest (SIN) in Italy. Developed by the Lazio Regional Health Service’s Department of Epidemiology, ASL Roma 1, the project investigates how environmental risks and pollution may affect local communities. Its work supports efforts to understand health conditions in the area and provides evidence to help institutions make informed decisions about environmental remediation.

INDACO conducts and shares population health indicator analyses, resident cohort studies on air pollution and proximity to industrial sites, and health surveillance and biomonitoring, including assessment of human exposure to beta-HCH. Its activities also include a birth cohort study for pregnant women and children, with a focus on well-being and reducing environmental exposures. The project’s website presents research findings, reports, publications, informational resources and updates for health professionals, doctors and residents. It also encourages public participation through surveys and community engagement, aiming to inform people about local health and environmental concerns and foster dialogue between researchers and the communities affected.
