## Description

ProGIS is a Finnish association that promotes the use of geographic information systems (GIS) and geospatial data across different fields and sectors of society. It brings together professionals and organizations working in the geospatial industry, shares information about developments in the field, and supports collaboration within Finland’s geospatial community. ProGIS is also a cooperation member of GeoForum and works with other communities and Nordic geospatial associations.

The association’s activities include seminars, information sharing, networking opportunities, and informal gatherings for members. These events help participants learn about current trends, maintain their professional knowledge, and build connections. ProGIS also contributes to the development of the sector by commenting on relevant issues and encouraging broader use of geospatial information.

To recognize achievement and inspire new practitioners, ProGIS presents annual awards for outstanding theses and grants a geospatial honourable mention. Its ProGIS award recognizes a deserving person, company, or organization. Individuals and organizations can join the association and take part in shaping geospatial cooperation and its role in society.
