## Description

The Progressive Economics Forum (PEF) is a vibrant community dedicated to advancing progressive economic thought in Canada. Established in 1998, this collaborative platform unites over 200 economists from diverse backgrounds, including academia, labor movements, and activist research organizations. The PEF promotes alternative economic policies that challenge the dominance of conventional free-market theories, advocating for a thorough re-evaluation of economic structures and relationships, including macroeconomic policies, labor market regulations, and environmental safeguards.

Key offerings from the PEF include a blog called "Relentlessly Progressive Economics," where members provide real-time commentary on Canadian economic issues, along with opportunities for networking, education, and skills development. The Forum organizes annual meetings and panels at various conferences, and hosts a burgeoning student essay contest to foster new voices in progressive economics.

By building connections with like-minded organizations both domestically and internationally, the PEF aims to cultivate a strong left presence within the economics profession, supporting progressive economists and social movements alike.
