## Description

MERLIN is a leading brand committed to transformative ecosystem restoration and mainstreaming Nature-based Solutions for the urgent systemic change our society needs. With a focus on freshwater-related ecosystems, MERLIN explores social, economic, and environmental success factors through 17 flagship restoration projects across Europe. These projects serve as blueprints for implementing Nature-based Solutions that can be replicated immediately. In addition, MERLIN identifies landscapes with high potential for transformative restoration, emphasizing essential ecosystem services, biodiversity targets, and climate change mitigation. The brand also engages with investors and economic sectors, developing models for private investment in restoration and maximizing synergies between sectors. MERLIN collaborates closely with local communities and key economic sectors to co-develop win-win solutions for mainstream restoration. The MERLIN Marketplace connects restoration actors and provides financing, while the MERLIN Academy shares knowledge and educates stakeholders. Supported by 46 partners across Europe, MERLIN is a research and innovation action funded by the European Commission's H2020 programme. Together, we can restore Europe's freshwater ecosystems and create a sustainable future for all.
