Turning Green is a brand that aims to inform, inspire, and mobilize high school, college, and graduate students worldwide around climate action, public health, social justice, and advocacy. Their flagship initiative, Project Green Challenge (PGC), is a global event that takes place annually starting from October 1st. This powerful and diverse call to action features 30 days of environmentally-themed challenges, empowering students with the knowledge, resources, and mentorship to lead change on their campuses and in their communities.

Throughout the 30 days, registered participants receive a uniquely themed challenge each morning via email and have 24 hours to complete bold actions, upload deliverables, and earn points on a leaderboard. Excellent work is rewarded with daily prize packages. At the end of the challenge, up to 14 outstanding participants are selected as PGC Finalists based on points, engagement, challenge wins, work quality, a final exam, and a video recap of their 30-day journey.

The PGC Finals, held in San Francisco, California, from November 16 to 19, 2023, is a transformational, all-expenses-paid eco summit. Finalists have the opportunity to present their 30-day journeys and develop frameworks for Climate Action Projects (CAPs). They receive support, guidance, and mentorship from an esteemed group of eco leaders, speakers, mentors, ambassadors, and partners, equipping them with the tools and resources to rise as leaders.

Following the finals, PGC Champion works with Turning Green and teams of mentors from December 2023 to April 2024 to implement their CAP before presenting virtually in April. The PGC Champion is awarded the prestigious $5,000 Acure Green Award for their outstanding contributions. Since its launch in 2011, Project Green Challenge has successfully built a movement of powerful young leaders, directly engaging over 328,559 students and indirectly reaching tens of millions.
