About

Description

Project Healthy Community is a health and wellness nonprofit organization based in Detroit, Michigan. Founded in 2012 by Diane ΧœΧ΄Χ– and Dr. Melvyn Rubenfire, the organization aims to provide school and community-based nutrition, fitness, and mental health education and services.

The vision for Project Healthy Community was inspired by Rabbi Bennett, who encouraged his temple members to volunteer in Detroit during a Yom Kippur service. Recognizing the need for improved access to healthy food in the Detroit community, Dr. Rubenfire and Diane ΧœΧ΄Χ– were motivated to create programs that promote education and wellness.

Working in partnership with Hartford Memorial Baptist Church and the Northwest Activities Center, Project Healthy Community offers nutrition education programs, family wellness programs, and community programs. Through continuous evaluation and feedback, Project Healthy Community ensures that their programs meet the needs of the community. Volunteer opportunities and career positions are available to support their mission.
