## Description

Instituto Pró-Livro (IPL) is a Brazil-based organization focused on promoting reading and strengthening the country’s reading culture. Its work brings together research, projects, information and public engagement around books, libraries and reader development. A central initiative is Retratos da Leitura no Brasil, a recurring research project that examines reading in the country; related studies explore reading in school libraries and at literary and book events. The institute also publishes books about its research, shares results through the Plataforma Pró-Livro, and presents the Prêmio IPL – Retratos da Leitura. Its website provides information about reading projects, libraries, book-sector organizations and the Rede LEQT, alongside practical guidance on publishing and donating books. IPL communicates through news, releases, a newsletter, media coverage and participation in events, and features interviews, photographs and videos from its activities. By connecting research with initiatives and conversations about reading, the institute supports awareness of readers, reading promotion and the development of literary and educational opportunities in Brazil.
