## Description

Prometheus e.V. As a distributed digital image archive, Prometheus brings together various image and media databases from different institutions, allowing users to conduct image searches through a single interface. The image providers generously make their databases available for research and teaching purposes, free of charge. Not driven by profit, Prometheus is supported by a non-profit association with a mission to advance science and research in the field of art and cultural history through the development, provision, and application of digital media. The license fees collected for the use of the image archive are solely dedicated to maintaining and supporting the archive and its users. With over 115 image databases and more than 2,998,000 images, users can easily search, collect, present, and even publish images through Prometheus. With multilingual search options, advanced search capabilities, and the ability to create image collections, Prometheus empowers researchers and educators to explore and utilize images in a convenient and location-independent manner.
