## Description

Promoting Independence South West Ltd is a mentoring and support service for adults and young people with complex needs, serving Mid and West Cornwall. The organisation supports people with neurodivergence, autism, learning disabilities, cognitive or sensory needs, mental health difficulties, brain injury, dementia, substance misuse, self-neglect, homelessness, domestic violence and trauma. Its work takes place in clients’ homes and in the community, with a focus on safety, personal potential and greater, sustained independence.

Support is tailored to each person and may include prompts or assistance with personal care, cleaning, cooking, budgeting and shopping. The team can also help clients use public transport, join groups and activities, reconnect with their community after formal mental health treatment, and explore education, volunteering or paid work. Promoting Independence South West also works with people who have complex social care needs, cognitive decline or challenging behaviours. Its strengths-based, person-centred approach aims to help people make their own choices and live life as fully as possible.
