## Description

Protector Lamp & Lighting Company is a British manufacturer and supplier of mining lamps, with roots in Eccles dating back to 1873. The company produces flame safety lamps, also known as Davy, Eccles and deputies’ lamps, alongside LED and cordless miners’ cap lamps and head torches for mines and quarries in the UK and overseas. Its range includes the GR6S Garforth lamp, described as the approved method of checking for firedamp in UK coal mines.

Protector Lamp also designs and supplies lanterns for transporting the Olympic Flame. Its lanterns have been used in Olympic Games and torch relays, as well as for the transit of the Holy Fire, for more than 25 years. The company sells spare parts and refurbished miners’ lamps, and provides on-site repairs and servicing. It also offers lamp-related accessories and instructional resources, including guidance on maintenance and repairs. Combining a long manufacturing history with specialist support, Protector Lamp serves mining customers and those seeking rare or collectable lamps.
