Proyecto Juan Diego (PJD) is a non-profit organization that was founded in 2003 by Daughter of Charity Sister Phylis Peters. The organization aims to address the various problems and deficiencies faced by low-income families, particularly Spanish-speaking families, in the Cameron Park colonia, one of the United States' largest and most neglected communities. Over the years, PJD expanded its services to cater not only to the Cameron Park community but also to other low-income communities in Brownsville, Texas, and its surrounding areas.

Their comprehensive range of services is designed to support each family member, focusing on family dynamics, education, healthcare, immigration services, and civic engagement. Proyecto Juan Diego has received recognition for their impactful work, including commendation from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for their diabetes prevention efforts. Their mission is to empower low-income families to become healthy and self-sufficient community members through educational programs, family activities, and preventative health services.
