## Description

Ploughshares is an award-winning literary journal housed at Emerson College in Boston. Since 1971, it has published work by both established and emerging writers, offering readers a broad range of contemporary literary voices. Its journal features fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and longform writing, with issues organized across decades and complemented by anthologies and individual “Solos.” The website also provides selected free content, essays, interviews, book reviews, and literary dialogues, extending the journal’s engagement with writers and readers beyond its print issues. Ploughshares supports new talent through its Emerging Writers’ Contest and recognizes literary achievement through awards, including prizes for fiction, poetry, and first books. Readers can subscribe, shop for publications, and explore the journal’s archive, while bookstores, libraries, and classrooms can access information about copies and reprint rights. The organization also invites donations and volunteer participation to support its work and its commitment to paying writers. As a member of the Community of Literary Magazines and Presses, Ploughshares connects a long-running editorial tradition with an active literary community.
