## Description

The European Prize for Urban Public Space is a prestigious biennial initiative by the Centre of Contemporary Culture of Barcelona (CCCB). Established in 1999, the Prize aims to recognize and showcase the best works that create, recover, and enhance public space in Europe. Unlike other awards, this Prize acknowledges the relational and civic nature of urban spaces rather than solely focusing on architecture or landscaping projects. It celebrates spaces that are both public and accessible to all. The Prize is unique in its European focus and strives to highlight the local particularities while promoting a shared European idea of the city. With the involvement of various European institutions and an expert board, the Prize ensures geographical diversity and the highest quality of submitted works. In the last edition, 336 works from 35 countries were considered, adding to the 2206 works submitted in previous editions. The Prize contributes to the CCCB's multidisciplinary reflection on the city and public space.
