## Description

Pulse is a narrative medicine and medical humanities publication dedicated to sharing personal experiences of giving and receiving health care. Its mission is to foster a more humanistic practice of medicine, publish accounts of illness and healing, and encourage health care advocacy. Through first-person stories, poetry, haiku, cartoons, visual work, and podcasts, Pulse explores the emotional and human dimensions of health and medicine from the perspectives of patients, caregivers, and health professionals.

The publication organizes stories around recurring themes, including chronic pain, diagnosis, disability, caregiving, loss, aging, race, access to care, and healing. Its More Voices feature invites readers to contribute brief stories on a monthly health care theme, while New Voices highlights perspectives underrepresented in media and the health professions. Pulse also offers themed collections, visual features, and resources explaining narrative medicine and medical humanities. Readers can explore the archive, subscribe, give a gift subscription, or submit prose, poetry, visual work, and other contributions according to its submission guidelines.
