## Description

The Chicago Punk Database is a community-built resource documenting the bands, musicians, labels, records, and history of Chicago’s punk scene. It concentrates on the scene before 1990 while welcoming information from every era, including the 1990s and later. The site contains more than 740 articles, many of which are works in progress, and invites visitors to create an account, contribute new pages, and improve existing entries. Contributors can add bands, list members and instruments, correct errors, or write about Chicago punk records.

The database organizes band listings by decade, with extensive collections covering the 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s. Its pages feature influential and varied acts, including The Effigies, Naked Raygun, Big Black, Ministry, Alkaline Trio, and Cap’n Jazz. Alongside its reference material, the site shares news and archival discoveries connected to the scene, such as tributes to musicians and updates about recovered film footage. The Chicago Punk Database serves fans, researchers, and former or current scene participants seeking to explore and preserve Chicago punk history.
