## Description

Purple Hayes School of Kayaking is a kayaking school based on the Chilliwack River, where it has been operating since 1986. Founded on the principle of “good clean fun,” the school aims to introduce people to the enjoyment of kayaking through safe, engaging outdoor adventures. Its instructors offer beginner and intermediate courses, with a low student-to-teacher ratio to support learning and progression.

The school’s popular weekend introductory course teaches basic strokes and strategies, guiding students from classroom instruction to flat water and then moving water. Other offerings include pool sessions, advanced beginner and intermediate clinics, rolling clinics, river rescue training, and programs for junior kayakers. Course information, registration details, videos, reading resources, events, and kayaking links are also available through the school.

Beyond instruction, Purple Hayes encourages river stewardship and supports the Chilliwack Vedder River Cleanup Coalition, inviting people to join river cleanups. The school also offers “Good Clean Fun” T-shirts for purchase. Prospective students can check its course pages for current dates or contact the school for information.
