The brand was founded by Lorie James, who shares similar experiences with the girls she serves.

Lorie overcame her own obstacles and went on to earn a Master's degree in Negotiation, Conflict Resolution, and Peace Building. As the driving force behind Purpose Youth Foundation, Lorie's goal is to empower girls through mentoring, while teaching etiquette, education, and exposure to the world through life events and travel.
