## Description

Planinska zveza Slovenije (PZS), the Mountaineering Association of Slovenia, is one of the country’s largest volunteer-based non-governmental organizations and the national body for mountaineering and related outdoor activities. It brings together around 60,000 members through 284 mountaineering clubs. Its activities span hiking and mountaineering, alpinism, sport climbing, ski touring and mountain biking. The Slovenian mountaineering organization maintains more than 9,000 kilometres of mountain trails and manages 176 mountain huts, bivouacs and shelters, supporting access to the country’s mountain landscapes. PZS provides information about trails, huts, mountain weather, safety and mountain conservation, alongside event calendars and resources from its specialist committees. It also offers professional training for sports practitioners and operates a shop selling guidebooks, specialist and general literature, and subscriptions to Planinski vestnik, its print and digital magazine. Through its network of clubs, publications, training and organized activities, PZS serves both experienced mountaineers and recreational visitors.
