## Description

Qimo 4 Kids was an innovative project dedicated to providing a child-friendly computing experience, designed especially for young children and those with learning or developmental disabilities. Initially launched to address a gap for simple, intuitive interfaces, Qimo featured a bright and engaging desktop environment loaded with educational games and applications suitable for kids as young as three. Although the active development of Qimo has been retired as of January 2016, its legacy continues through the games and resources now available in various Linux distributions like Ubuntu.

The Qimo team is committed to fostering children's literacy and learning, recently registering to compete in the Global Learning X-Prize to develop an Android game aimed at teaching literacy skills to children globally. They continue to prioritize community engagement and support, expressing gratitude for the loyalty of their users and the contributions from various supporters. As they evolve, the beloved characters Qimo and Illa may reappear in future projects, as the team remains dedicated to creating enriching experiences for children everywhere.
