Qualia Coffee, founded in 2009, embraces the concept of coffee as produce. Inspired by the farmers market experience, we prioritize sourcing our raw coffee beans based on where and how they are grown, ensuring value for our customers. Our inventory is ever-changing as new harvests arrive, with 70% to 80% of our green coffee directly sourced from growing partners like BioKrop in El Salvador and Gold Mountain Coffee Growers in Nicaragua.

Sustainability is a core focus for us, both for the environment and the farmers. In contrast to grocery store coffee, we treat coffee as fresh produce. We roast in small batches in DC, sell the beans within four days of roast, and prominently display the roast date on our bags.

This approach allows us to highlight the best flavor of the beans while offering transparency to customers who want to know the origin of their food. We also prioritize freshness in our brewed coffees, using beans roasted within the past three to eight days. As a DC company, we are committed to keeping our production chain short to provide a fresher and more personalized experience for our customers.

We work with Compost Cab to sustainably manage waste by diverting used coffee grounds from landfills and creating natural fertilizer. We also use biodegradable cups, lids, and straws made from renewable resources, and encourage customers to return re-usable cold-brew jars to reduce disposable containers.
