Welcome to Queens Zoo, a wildlife park located in Flushing Meadows, Queens. Established in 1968, the zoo sits on 18 acres of land, encompassing a diverse range of animal habitats. Initially managed by the NYC Department of Parks and Recreation, the zoo underwent a redesign by WCS (formerly known as the New York Zoological Society) and reopened in 1992. As you explore the park, don't miss the iconic aviary, originally a dome from the 1964 World's Fair, now transformed into a vibrant habitat for various bird species. Queens Zoo is known for its commitment to wildlife conservation. The zoo has successfully bred and released over 4,000 Puerto Rican crested toads as part of a head-start program. It is also home to Andean bears, the last of their kind born in North American zoos.
