## Description

Quinta do Canhoto is a family-run winery in Albufeira, in Portugal’s Algarve, set between the countryside, the city, the sea and the region’s barrocal landscape. The family’s connection to wine in Albufeira dates to 1875, and the estate joined its holdings in 1958. Today, siblings Josefina Fernandes and Edgar Vilarinho manage the property. The winery project began taking shape in 2010, with its design by architect Joana Fernandes, a member of the family’s fifth generation.

The estate produces Esquerdino wines, including red, rosé and white varieties. Their descriptions highlight fruit, freshness, mineral character and the influence of the Mediterranean maritime climate. Quinta do Canhoto also welcomes visitors for wine tourism experiences, which combine vineyard walks, winery visits and tastings. Options include wine tastings with local cheese and charcuterie, a wine brunch, picnics, watercolour workshops and customised experiences. The winery also hosts special events, including wine dinners and evenings featuring fado music. Experiences are generally offered in English, with other languages subject to availability.
