## Description

The Radical Statistics Group, often referred to as Radstats, was established in 1975 as part of the radical science movement aimed at promoting social responsibility in statistics. With a firm belief in the power of statistics to drive progressive social change, Radstats members challenge the conventional use of official statistics, highlighting their often skewed representation of social issues influenced by governmental agendas. The organization advocates for transparency and community involvement in statistical research, seeking to demystify the language surrounding social problems and combat the fragmentation of these issues into specialized fields. Radstats operates independently, encouraging individuals committed to an egalitarian society to join their efforts in promoting social justice through data. While not a professional or academic organization, Radstats provides a platform for activists, researchers, and statisticians to collaborate in fostering social advancements. Through conferences, newsletters, and a member mailing list, Radstats actively engages its community in discussions and campaigns aimed at leveraging statistics for meaningful change.
