## Description

RAILS Libraries is a regional library system that serves libraries in northern and west-central areas of Illinois. With approximately 1250 private, public, school, and university library members, RAILS supports over 4000 library facilities within a 27,000 square mile area. While RAILS encompasses Chicago, the Chicago Public Library operates separately. Networking opportunities are abundant for members, who can connect through email lists, networking groups, updates, and events. The system is governed by a Board of Directors elected by member libraries, and it operates under the Illinois Library System Act. RAILS provides a wide range of services to its member libraries, including interlibrary delivery, continuing education and consulting, shared catalog and cataloging support, e-content services, and a museum and attractions pass program. Additionally, RAILS offers group purchases, vendor discounts, and targeted grant funding. To learn more about the services provided by RAILS Libraries, visit their website and explore their programs tailored to different library types.
