## Description

Founded in 1987 by Professor Cesare Maltoni, a world-renowned oncologist, and former Senator of the Republic Luigi Orlandi, L’Istituto Ramazzini is a non-profit social cooperative dedicated to fighting cancer and environmental diseases. With over thirty thousand members, it stands as one of Italy's largest and most significant social cooperatives. The institution operates the prestigious Cancer Research Center "Cesare Maltoni" known for its groundbreaking in vivo scientific research, making it the second-largest in the world for the number of agents and compounds analyzed. Additionally, the institute runs two clinical facilities in Bologna and Ozzano, offering a wide range of healthcare services and diagnostic tests in various specialties, including oncology. The social base, organized into 28 sections primarily in Emilia-Romagna, Veneto, and Lombardia, significantly supports research funding through fundraising activities to maintain the institute's financial independence.
