## Description

Rancho Nixon Historic Association is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving and sharing the history of the land and communities around Nixon, Texas, a region the association describes as “The Cradle.” Its educational work explores how Spanish, Indigenous, and Anglo influences shaped the area and contributed to Texas history. Website topics include the development of the American cowboy and Quarter Horse, early cattle drives, the vast Espiritu Santo Ranch, the first Texas Ranger outposts, and the region’s early open-range laws. The association also presents the Taylor-Sutton Feud and the story of gunfighter John Wesley Hardin, connecting local events with the wider history of the American West. Through history-focused video projects and other educational resources, it helps visitors learn about the people, conflicts, ranching traditions, and cultural influences that defined the region. The organization invites public donations to support its preservation mission and provides information about its board and 501(c)(3) exemption.
