Ranyaka is a South African non-profit organisation and professional Place-Based Practice that works with communities, businesses, municipalities, funders and other partners to strengthen the places where people live, learn, work and do business. Since 2013, it has developed and applied the THRIVE Framework, an approach that places people, local context and collaborative partnerships at the centre of lasting community transformation. Its work brings together knowledge, investment and practical solutions to improve local economic, social and environmental conditions, helping communities become more productive, resilient and regenerative.

Ranyaka supports local stakeholders, develops change agents and facilitates cross-sector collaboration so that community-led initiatives contribute to shared goals. Its programmes include Building Business, which helps local entrepreneurs build more sustainable businesses, and Proud of My Town, for which Ranyaka serves as national implementation agent. The organisation also uses Clubs, Hubs, Networks and a shared Platform to connect people and resources, including through the CoCreate Hub. By the end of 2025, Ranyaka’s work had reached 38 communities across 15 towns in eight South African provinces.
