## Description

Raptors Are the Solution (RATS) is an environmental education and advocacy project fiscally sponsored by Earth Island Institute. The organization works to explain how rat and rodent poisons move through the food web and harm wildlife, pets, and children. It highlights the ecological role of wild birds of prey and promotes a healthy food web in which organisms remain free from poison.

RATS partners with environmental nonprofits, public agencies, scientists, cities, and other organizations to reduce and eliminate toxic rodenticides. Its public education resources include a graphic novel, awareness campaigns, posters, videos, interactive materials, a children’s page, and information about raptor ecology, rats, rodenticides, and safer pest control. The site also offers guidance on reporting suspected violations of rodenticide restrictions in California.

Alongside education, RATS advocates for policy changes to limit dangerous poisons. It co-sponsored California legislation establishing and expanding moratoria on several anticoagulant rodenticides, and continues to oppose rules it believes would widen their permitted use.
