## Description

RareCAP is an online repository designed to support the care of people with rare diseases. As rare conditions are continually discovered and characterized, reliable treatment information can be difficult to find; RareCAP aims to serve as a clearinghouse for clinical protocols and related care-management guidance. Users can search its database for a rare disease, view and download protocols tailored to a specific patient need, and participate in the community by commenting on protocols or responding to other users’ comments.

RareCAP also invites professionals with expertise in rare diseases to contribute care-management protocols. Submitted protocols are reviewed by the RareCAP Curation Team before publication, providing a defined vetting step for content shared on the platform. Users can access the site by signing up or continuing as a guest. The service was developed by Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) in collaboration with Children’s National Hospital and is supported by a grant from Takeda. RareCAP aims to help clinicians and others find and share practical protocol information for rare-disease patient care.
