## Description

**Brand Description: Cooking in the Archives**

Cooking in the Archives is an innovative public food history project dedicated to rediscovering and modernizing recipes from 17th and 18th-century cookbooks. Launched in June 2014 by co-founders Marissa Nicosia and Alyssa Connell, this initiative explores the fascinating intersection of contemporary culinary practices and early modern manuscript traditions. The project aims to make historical recipes accessible and relevant in modern kitchens, encouraging participants to cook and discuss these culinary artifacts in today’s context.

By showcasing recipes from a range of sources, Cooking in the Archives not only highlights the artistry of early cooking but also emphasizes the importance of food history. With ongoing contributions from Marissa Nicosia, who has an academic background in Renaissance literature, the project fosters a vibrant community of culinary enthusiasts through blog posts, social media engagement, and collaborative events.

Follow their journey as they breathe new life into rare culinary texts, transforming the way we appreciate food history and its recipes in the contemporary world.
