## Description

The Royal Astronomical Society (RAS) is a scientific organisation that encourages and promotes the study of astronomy, solar-system science, geophysics, and closely related disciplines. Its work supports researchers, students, educators, and members of the public through scientific publishing, events, education, outreach, and professional development. The Society publishes journals including Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, Geophysical Journal International, and RAS Techniques & Instruments, alongside its A&G magazine. It also provides access to a library, archives, research resources, and collections documenting the history of astronomy and geophysics. The RAS organises scientific meetings, public lectures, and other events, and offers awards, medals, grants, and research fellowships. Its education and outreach activities include resources, podcasts, careers information, and initiatives to engage wider communities with science. The Society also contributes to public policy and supports its Fellows and Friends through membership services and opportunities to participate in its activities. Through these programmes, publications, and resources, the RAS advances research and broadens public understanding of astronomy and geophysics.
