## Description

Greyhound Racing Ireland (GRI), formerly known as the Irish Greyhound Board (IGB), is a commercial semi-state organization tasked with the regulation and advancement of the greyhound racing industry in the Republic of Ireland. Established in 1958 through the Greyhound Industry Act, GRI oversees the licensing of 15 tracks across Ireland, with nine under its control. The organization ensures compliance with racing regulations and facilitates a vibrant racing environment through the promotion and improvement of greyhound facilities.

GRI operates Tote betting services at all tracks and implements a levy on bookmaker activities, which significantly contributes to funding the industry. This financial support is utilized to enhance prize money, provide development loans for track improvements, and market greyhound racing on both national and international stages. Through initiatives like these, GRI not only preserves the heritage of greyhound racing but also aims to engage new audiences and ensure the sport's sustainable future. For more information, visit their official website or contact them directly.
