## Description

RateRudder is a smart energy management platform that helps homeowners get more value from their solar panels and home batteries. It automatically adjusts charging and energy exports to take advantage of changing electricity prices and utility credits, charging when grid power is inexpensive and using or exporting stored energy during peak periods. The service supports Tesla Powerwall, FranklinWH, and Enphase systems, and connects through official manufacturer cloud services.

RateRudder’s SmartPlan engine updates battery schedules hourly using utility rates, solar forecasts, predicted household demand, and detected electric vehicle charging. It can coordinate overnight grid charging, preserve capacity for incoming solar generation, export energy when credits rise, and manage backup reserves. Users can receive optional alerts about price spikes, outages, unusual energy use, and expected solar production.

Setup is designed to take about two minutes: users sign in, select from more than 50 supported utilities and rate plans, and connect their battery. RateRudder is free during its public beta and is presented as an open-source project.
