About

Description

Rcghs (Reynolds County Genealogy and Historical Society) is a dedicated organization that aims to preserve and share the rich history of Reynolds County. Founded in 1983 by Lee Sylcox and Roy DeJournett, the society gathers and provides access to genealogical materials for Reynolds County, assisting individuals in their research. With a charter membership of thirty-five individuals, Rcghs has grown over the years to become a vital resource for historical artifacts and information.

In 1995, the society recognized the need for a county museum and took action. Today, the museum houses a diverse collection of artifacts, a genealogy library, and even a gift shop. The new museum building, opened in May 2011, provides ample space for exhibitions, a meeting room, and rental spaces for small groups.

Rcghs is a place where the roots of Reynolds County's past and present converge. The society's logo, a tree over the county outline, symbolizes the people who migrated to the county and those who have left, spreading their branches throughout the world. With a deep commitment to preserving history, Rcghs welcomes visitors and researchers alike to delve into the fascinating heritage of Reynolds County.

Contact Rcghs by telephone at 573-663-3233 or visit their address at 233 South 2nd St. PO Box 281 Ellington, MO 63638 during museum hours from March to October, Tuesday to Friday from 10:00AM to 4:00PM (Saturdays are by appointment only). Make a donation to support this invaluable organization and become a part of Reynolds County's historical preservation
