## Description

The Regional Centre on Groundwater Resources Education, Training and Research (RCGW) is a Nairobi-based institution focused on the sustainable management and development of groundwater resources. Guided by its mission to promote research, education and training, the Centre works to strengthen groundwater knowledge and capacity in Kenya and across the region. Its activities include research into aquifer systems and the collection of hydrochemical, hydrological and hydrogeological data. RCGW also provides training and capacity-building, promotes public awareness and supports collaboration among government bodies, research institutions and development partners. Through projects and partnerships, it contributes to groundwater planning, policy discussions and water security initiatives. A featured effort is GROWANA, a Danish-Kenyan partnership mapping the Nairobi Aquifer System using airborne electromagnetic technology to develop detailed aquifer models. The Centre shares resources such as hydrological maps, reports and guidelines, and convenes or participates in regional groundwater forums. Its work is underpinned by values of integrity, professionalism, innovation and sustainability, with the broader goal of securing groundwater for present and future generations.
