Regional Center of Orange County (RCOC) is a nonprofit organization that provides a wide range of services and supports for individuals with developmental disabilities and their families. While the State of California supplies RCOC with funding for many of these services, there are often significant needs that cannot be met with regional center funds. To address this, RCOC offers two programs to help those with limited financial resources. First is Brian's Fund, which is supported entirely by private donors. The fund pays for emergency and special needs that cannot be funded by the Regional Center or any other public source. It provides assistance for things like emergency rent, food, clothing, equipment, or dental care. The second program is called Wish Tree, which brightens the holiday season for hundreds of people with developmental disabilities. Donors can participate by fulfilling the wishes of low-income individuals and families served by RCOC. These wishes range from toys and clothes to music CDs and gift cards. Financial contributions can also be made to help fulfill specific wishes from the Wish Tree. Both programs are administered by RCOC, ensuring that every dollar of donation goes directly to those in need. Contributions to Brian's Fund are tax deductible, and RCOC covers all administrative costs.
