## Description

RD-Connect is a pioneering initiative aimed at creating a comprehensive global infrastructure for rare disease research. Launched in 2012 and concluded in 2018, this multidisciplinary project was funded by the European Commission and brought together partners from across Europe and beyond. RD-Connect developed three innovative platforms designed to enhance the study and analysis of rare diseases: the Genome-Phenome Analysis Platform (GPAP), Registry & Biobank Finder, and the Sample Catalogue.

The Genome-Phenome Analysis Platform facilitates the analysis and sharing of genomic data to drive forward research in rare diseases. The Registry & Biobank Finder serves as a directory for accessing rare disease biobanks and patient registries. Additionally, the Sample Catalogue allows researchers to browse and request rare disease biosamples stored in various biobanks. RD-Connect emphasizes the importance of data sharing, ethical considerations, and patient engagement, providing invaluable resources for researchers, patients, and families impacted by rare diseases. Through its integrated platform, RD-Connect fosters collaboration among various stakeholders in the rare disease community.
