## Description

ReAlta Life Sciences is a biotechnology company developing therapies that target inflammation, with a focus on protecting the newborn brain and preserving long-term function. Its lead compound, pegtarazimod, also known as RLS-0071, is a peptide designed to act on two upstream drivers of inflammation: neutrophils and the complement system. The company aims to control inflammatory injury early and describes pegtarazimod as a platform asset with potential across multiple inflammatory indications.

ReAlta is advancing pegtarazimod for hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy (HIE), a serious condition affecting newborns for which treatment options have largely been limited to supportive care. The therapy is in Phase 2 development, and the company reports that interim data are available. ReAlta is currently enrolling newborns with HIE in its STAR Phase 2 trial at neonatal intensive care units across the United States.

The company’s scientific approach draws on discoveries in astrovirus evolutionary biology and immune regulation. ReAlta also shares clinical and scientific updates and welcomes inquiries about its programs, investment, and business development opportunities.
