## Description

Redbird is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit Native American and environmental organization focused on celebrating Indigenous cultures and people while supporting a sustainable future. It gained state and federal nonprofit status in 1994 and acquired the Chilao School complex in the Angeles National Forest in 2011, providing a base for its community programs. Redbird welcomes people of all backgrounds and has no membership dues; its work is supported through donations.

Its activities bring together culture, environmental education, arts, healing arts, and community support. Programs include the Children of Many Colors Native American Powwow, a seasonal blanket, toy, and school-supplies drive with a mini-powwow, and the Forest Recovery Project, a documentary and presentation series exploring the forest and its recovery. Redbird also hosts the Highway 2 art show and offers motorcycle safety activities, including track days with instruction and mentoring. At Chilao School, the organization is advancing a fire-safety campaign through structural upgrades and fire-retardant paint, while sharing lessons to encourage wildfire preparedness. Redbird also raises funds through donations and its eBay store.
