## Description

Référendum Citoyen is a French civic technology initiative that gives citizens a way to express their collective political views through verified votes and petitions. Its mobile application is designed around the principle of one person, one vote: participants verify their identity using a French identity card, while votes are presented as anonymous, publicly verifiable, and auditable. The service aims to offer a democratic channel between opinion polls and official referendums, with results intended to make citizens’ views more visible to political decision-makers. Users can browse current questions, vote in the app, and follow results. The platform also hosts petitions, including campaigns on local emissions zones, energy costs, renewable-energy subsidies, and judicial accountability. The organization says that petitions reaching 500,000 supporters may become citizen referendums in the app. It provides instructions for identity-card scanning, voting, and managing the private voting key created on a user’s phone. Référendum Citoyen describes its software as published and encourages public scrutiny of its voting technology.
