## Description

RENCTAS, the National Network for Combating Wildlife Trafficking, is a Brazilian civil society organization recognized as an OSCIP, a public-interest nonprofit designation. Founded in 1999, it works to conserve biodiversity by protecting Brazil’s wildlife and fighting the illegal capture and trade of wild animals. The organization describes its efforts as ongoing, operating around the clock throughout the year to help rescue animals affected by trafficking.

RENCTAS raises awareness of the scale and consequences of wildlife crime, including the loss of animals from their natural habitats and the high mortality of trafficked wildlife. Its work also includes projects and actions, political and government engagement, and the publication of reports and other materials. The organization shares updates on threats to endangered Brazilian species and collaborates with environmental groups on advocacy, including calls for stronger protection of macaws through international trade rules.

People can support RENCTAS by donating, volunteering, following its social media channels, or subscribing for updates. Through these activities, the organization seeks to mobilize public and institutional support for wildlife conservation.
