## Description

The Research and Innovation Foundation (RIF), known in Greek as ΙδΕΚ, is Cyprus’s national organisation for supporting and promoting research, technological development and innovation. It helps strengthen the country’s research and innovation ecosystem through funding programmes, international partnerships, practical support services and public engagement.

A central service is the IRIS Portal, where applications for funding are submitted and assessed. The Foundation manages calls and programmes for research and innovation projects, including initiatives supporting businesses, technology development, knowledge transfer and cybersecurity. It also provides guidance on European opportunities such as Horizon Europe, COST and EURAXESS, and supports cross-border cooperation and participation in international networks.

Beyond funding, RIF offers innovation services through initiatives such as the Cyprus Knowledge Transfer Office and Enterprise Europe Network, including support for knowledge transfer and partner searches. Its activities also include research awards, student opportunities, educational challenges and events such as European Researchers’ Night. Through strategy, information and services for researchers, businesses and the wider community, RIF works to advance research and innovation across Cyprus.
