## Description

Réserve Marine Réunion is the public-interest organization responsible for managing the Réunion Marine Natural Reserve, a protected marine area extending from Cap la Houssaye in Saint-Paul along the island’s reef environment. Management has been entrusted to the Groupement d’Intérêt Public – Réserve Nationale Marine de La Réunion (GIP-RNMR). The reserve’s work combines protection of marine biodiversity with research, public education and oversight of human activities.

Its missions include scientific monitoring, environmental awareness and enforcement of reserve regulations. The organization shares information about marine habitats and local uses, and offers educational activities for school groups to encourage understanding of sustainable development and biodiversity protection. It also studies fishing practices, including traditional and recreational fishing, and provides information about rules applying within the reserve, such as requirements for shore fishing. Other topics addressed on its website include boating, drones and activities taking place in the protected area. Réserve Marine Réunion publishes news, research updates, event information and documentation, helping residents and visitors learn about the reserve, its management and the ways people can use the marine environment responsibly.
